Trie the terrorists

The mayor of New York City is now also afraid of the terrorists. He does not believe anymore that his city and its citizens can be defended from further harm. What is going on? Are we no longer a country of heroes, have we become a country of cowards? Where did we leave that determination to stand up to terrorists of any kind? Can we no longer keep our prisoners locked up, can we not figure out how to try terrorists? When we chose to be comfortable with fear, we are missing out on an opportunity to build pride in our people, in our institutions, in what we stand for, in defending our reason for being the greatest country on earth. To show ourselves and people around the world that we take pride in who we are and what we stand for.

We are a country of laws, we stand up for our beliefs, we give anyone a fair chance, we protect those in need, we praise an independent spirit, we solve problems when facing them, we believe in the right of the individual and we believe in a union that protects that right. As a country we have gone and go to war to defend that right. We sacrifice for that right. We have to support the president who calls on us to be strong, smart, dedicated, vigilant, generous, courageous, and to do all we can to make this union more perfect, not less.

Khalid Shaikh Mohammed (KSM), the mastermind of 9/11, has to be tried. If we wanted to hang him, we should have done so a long time ago. We did not; now we have to trie him the best we can. No better place to do this than the city he and his cronies tried to destroy. They killed 3000 innocent people, but not our spirit to defend their legacy. Let's stand up for them at the place where they made their sacrifice and where we witnessed heroism, generosity and support from all people of good will, here and abroad. Americans, New Yorkers, your time is now.
