A blown call
I accept the fact that you may not be watching Keith Olbermann on MSNBC every night. I know he is considered too much on the left of Fox News, and not as entertaining as whatever channel you prefer. In that case, however, you probably missed Keith last night speaking elegantly about the blown call by major league umpire Jim Joyce of a perfectly pitched game by Detroit Tiger Armando Galarraga in a game Tuesday night with the Cleveland Indians. What was at first a "how the heck could he have missed that call moment" quickly became more than an obvious bad call by respected umpire and a major league-wronged pitcher. It became about the pitcher's grace to forgive the umpire and about the umpire admitting his mistake. Both qualities so often missing from our public and private lives.
Olbermann knows his sports, particularly baseball, better than most, and talks about it with great clarity and wisdom. Fortunately for you, there is instant video recall.
