Just watched the report of the 9/11 commission on MSNBC. The documentary said that Richard Clarke was the first government official to apologize to the families of the victims of 9/11.
Richard is the guy who raised his voice in 2000 warning that al-Qaeda was planning an attack. He also called the Bush administration to account for erroneously claiming that Iraq had bought yellow cake from Niger to develop nuclear weapons, a lie that was exposed by ex-ambassador Joseph Wilson who was sent on a fact finding trip by the Bush administration, that then chose to ignore his findings as it did not fit into their 'Iraq has WMDs' narrative.
Joe is also the husband of Valery Plane. Valery is the woman who was outed by Dick Cheney's cronies, not as a lesbian, because that's what Dick knows something about, but as a spy. Ahem, she spied for us! It was revenge for Joe speaking up about the questionable validity of the theory that Iraq was developing weapons of mass destruction.
We never found them. We tried for eight years. It took the next President to finally pull us out of the claws of the warmongers. More than 4500 lives were sacrificed. One dictator gone, with the prospect of democracy. Iraq is keeping a low profile now, but the jury is still out.
Now Afghanistan. The news is slowing down. We are not there to fight anymore, but to leave. That's a good skill to learn. We don't need more territory. When we visit your house we will not be staying longer than you will allow us. We already have a home.
You are welcome.
