Paul Ryan wants to lead, Boehner did, and love triumphs yet again, of course.

Great way to start. Make a budget. Then go on and start talking politics again. Or take a few moments to let it all sink in.

The president was chatting it up with the leader from Denmark the other day in South Africa. Having fun making selfies. With her in it, of course. Also Cameron, to make it not too obvious. Is everything OK between Barack and Michelle?

Boehner and Ryan played this well. Make a deal before Christmas. Give hope to supporters who had lost it; that they may not have to switch parties. Question is, are Democrats ready to take advantage of Republicans who want to make deals?

It is clear now that Republicans overplayed their hand by tarring the president since the moment he came into office. The swing is going back to what most people think is normal. Not that the haters lost their cause, but because their leader decided to lead, finally. It's a classic case of the sudden realization that you have lost touch with your customers.

The thinking behind the budget deal? We can take more away from federal workers. They can't even set up a functioning website. Obviously overpaid for their skill set. It is not enough to freeze their salaries for years to come. We can also punish them for us not doing our job.
Defense needs to get more. No politician will vote against more dough for their district or state. Although with Republicans you're never sure. If the money goes to the People, they are opposed.  An easy win, a serious loss for our country. Defense can never lose. But that's a fallacy. You would never fall in love again. Maybe over time, if you kept trying.

Will Republicans get a kick out of making deals?

Let's hope so.
