The God Helmet

Many people have reported a religious experience when being near death during an operation or as a result of a drug overdose. The sensation of rising up into the sky is often recalled as synonymous with leaving the world behind. This 'out of body' experience leaves a lasting imprint on those who experienced it and is long after recalled as having been very significant in their lives. 

By placing an electromagnetic field across the brain, Dr. Persinger claims to recreate a religious experience. Unfortunately, it does not work for everybody, or maybe Richard Dawkins is an exception.
