Flip-Flop, time for deja vu all over again

You remember John Kerry when he said during the 2004 election that he voted against the war after he voted for it. It didn't take long for him to be  being branded as a flip-flopper.

What irony that in a few days, maybe even today, with the stimulus package just about to be approved in the legislature, democrats will be handed the opportunity to turn the flip-flopping table on the republicans. Question is, how heartily will they embrace the opportunity?

Would it be simplifying to say that Republicans tend to fall all over themselves to give their constituency tax breaks? Anyone? Ok, well, the stimulus bill contains about 35% of 800 billion dollars of tax breaks. That's more than $250 billion in tax breaks that all but 3 republicans in both houses are going to vote against. But wait, maybe those who are up for reelection in 2010 will all of a sudden realize that they are Republicans and vote for the bill, at least the part that calls for tax breaks? Mmmm.

Doesn't look like they have any good options, do they? They will either be trying to prevent their constituency from keeping more of those hard earned dollars or flip-floppers they will be.

It may look like the democrats will get the last laugh on this one, but in the end it is you and me who have to listen to this stupid blame game all over again.  At least as long as we let our politicians treat us like the dumb electorate they are holding us for.

That's because Republicans are all about the blame game and offer little leadership. They are spent, extinct, redundant and obsolete. When the next election comes in 2010 they will still not figure this out. The good news: There won't be names like Jeb, Sarah, and the likes in politics again. These dudes and dudettes are DONE.
